Nvidia App update adds DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction and Resizable BAR controls
The Nvidia App’s newest update has added some killer new features
Nvidia has officially released version 11.0.9 of their Nvidia App, adding support for new overrides for DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction and Resizable BAR. These new options can deliver improved visuals and better game performance, respectively. Note that Nvidia overrides may not work as intended on all PC games. Rememeber, these are overrides, not defaults.
With DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, Nvidia App users can overwrite older versions of DLSS Ray Reconstruction in games. This can enable improved PC visuals in games with DLSS Ray Reconstruction. This can result in less visual noise, less visial artifacts, and improved overall image quality in supported games with ray tracing or path tracing.
Resizable BAR requires CPU/motherboard support to work. In simple terms, it enables more efficient CPU-to-VRAM transfers and can enable significant performance boosts in some games. Nvidia uses a whitelist system for Resizable BAR. This means that some games already support the feature. For many other games, Resizable BAR is disabled, preventing it from delivering any performance gains. Resizable BAR can be disabled in Nvidia’s drivers due to compatibility concerns or a simple lack of testing from Nvidia. As a result, PC gamers can enable Resizable BAR in some titles to get notable performance gains. One notable example of this is 2023’s Dead Space Remake.
