Intel officially confirms BMG-G31 “Big Battlemage” GPU
Is Intel finally ready to release “Big Battlemage”?
Intel has officially added support for its long-rumoured BMG-G31 (Big Battlemage) graphics card to its VTune Profiler. This implies that Intel will soon be ready to release its next discrete graphics card. This GPU will be much larger than Intel’s ARC B580, which is why the GPU has often been referred to as “Big Battlemage” online.
If Intel decides to unveil this GPU soon, it will likely be at CES 2026 alongside the company’s Panther Lake CPUs. That said, it remains to be seen how widely Intel plans to release this GPU. Will this GPU be launched as a larger version of Intel’s ARC B580 (perhaps as an ARC B770/B780), or will Intel focus on the ARC PRO market? With memory prices rising, it will be hard for Intel to launch its “Big Battlemage” GPU at a low price. Focusing on the Pro market will hurt the Intel ARC brand amongst consumers, but it would be a more profitable move if enough demand is there for the PRO model.

Intel’s BMG-G31 GPU is reportedly 60% larger than the BMG-G21 (ARC B580). This should give Intel’s new ARC GPU significantly more gaming performance than its lower-end counterpart. With a 256-bit memory bus, this GPU will also support 16GB of GDDR6 memory. This GPU also reportedly features PCIe 5.0 support.

If Intel reveals high-end ARC B-series GPUs, it will bring more competition into the mid-range GPU market. That said, rising memory prices will make it hard to make this new GPU cost-effective. Even so, AMD and Nvidia will face similar challenges moving forward.
