Less power, more brightness – LG starts mass producing Tandem OLED screens
LG starts mass producing brighter, more reliable, OLED screens with Tandem OLED tech
LG has started mass producing their new 13-inch Tandem OLED monitors for laptops, delivering the advantages of their newest OLED screens to users of the latest AI PCs.
What’s special about LG’s Tandem OLED tech is that each pixel features two stacks of red, green, and blue light emitting layers. By working in tandem, these layers give users enhanced durability, lowered power consumption, and brighter images than traditional OLED screens. In short, LG’s Tandem OLED tech is a win, win, win for laptop users.
With increased durability and brightness, LG has addressed the two primary concerns that consumers have about OLED screens. Alongside these benefits, LG’s Tandem OLED screens are 40% thinner and 28% lighter than traditional laptop OLED screens. That’s great news for ultra portable AI PCs.
LG’s 13-inch Tandem OLED screens for laptops boast a WQXGA+ resolution of 2880×1800. Each screen also meets 100% of the DCI-P3 colour standard. These screens are also DisplayHDR True Black 500 rated.

Thanks to this new OLED tech, LG are contributing to the increased battery life of new OLED laptops. In time, this new OLED technology should become available for larger screen sizes. Perhaps we will see this kind of OLED screen on larger screen laptops, other PC OLED screens or even large screen televisions.
With their lower power usage and increased longevity, these new screens are perfect for laptops and other portable devices. Screens can consume a lot of power, making LG’s Tandem OLED 40% power savings hugely significant for compact laptops.
