The Elder Scrolls Online is now Steam Deck Verified
The Elder Scrolls Online has become Steam Deck Verified after years of effort
Following the release of Update 50 for The Elder Scrolls Online, the game has officially been listed as a Steam Deck “Verified” game. This change was first noticed by Gaming on Linux, who have tested the game to confirm its playability on Valve’s handheld.
When Valve’s Steam Deck launched, The Elder Scrolls Online was “unsupported”. In 2024, the game reached “Playable” status. Now, in 2026, the game has officially become Steam Deck Verified thanks to improved controller support and changes to its launcher.
SteamDB says that Valve retested The Elder Scrolls Online on May 29th. Valve uses its Proton 11.0 beta runtime and confirmed the game’s full functionality on Steam Deck. Reaching “Verified” status on Steam Deck comes at a great time for this game. After all, Steam Deck Verified games are automatically verified for Valve’s Steam Machine. Valve’s due to release its Steam Machine this summer.
Gaming on Linux has also reported better game performance than before. The outlet reported that the game “feels a lot better” than they remember and that they bumped up its graphical settings above their defaults without any issues. That’s good news for Elder Scrolls fans on Linux. After all, strong Steam Deck performance should translate to strong performance on other Linux-based systems.
