Ultra-wide monitors are becoming increasingly common amongst PC gamers, offering users a wider field of view by physically extending a monitor further to the left and right.

In the case of 32:9, the practical applications of the display size are obvious, offering the same screen real estate as two 1920×1080 (1080p) monitors sitting side-by-side to provide a lot of potential productivity and gaming-oriented use cases.

MSI has officially revealed their new Optix MAG491C 3840×1080 FreeSync monitor, which offer a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz, VESA HDR 400 certification and a 4ms response time. Input-wise, MSI has told us that this display will have a single DisplayPort input and three HDMI inputs.

At Computex, MSI is advertising this display’s gaming prowess, showcasing how useful the extra width can be in racing titles and other simulation games. The MAG491C’s 1800R curvature also helps to give this display a nice wrap-around feel, much like an angle multi-monitor configuration.
