MSI reveals its lineup of custom RTX 40 SUPER series GPUs

MSI unleashes a huge range of RTX 40 SUPER series GPUs at CES 2024

At CES 2024 MSI has revealed their RTX 40 SUPER series GPU lineup, enhanced RTX 40 series graphics cards that are designed to deliver more performance per dollar to high-end RTX 40 series customers.

Alongside revamps of existing models, MSI has also revealed an all-new RTX 40 series graphics card SKU called the “Expert”, a pro-focused GPU design with a aluminium die cast heatsink shroud and a push-pull airflow design.

In total, MSI’s RTX 40 series lineup can be separated into five variants. Those are SURPIM, Expert, Gaming X Trio, Gaming Slim, and Ventus. However, these segments can be further separated if you include Ventus’ X2 and X3 models and MSI'[s various white GPU models.

A look at the MSI RTX 40 lineup

Starting off at the top we have MSI’s RTX 40 SUPRIM series of graphics cards. These are MSI top-tier models with advanced cooling solutions, the company’s newest fan technology and the largest amount of RGB lighting. For the RTX 4080 SUPER, this model even has a vapour chamber to boost its cooling potential.

SUPRIM

The SUPRIM card is designed for performance, efficiency, and prestige. Cooled with TRI FROZR 3S, MSI’s most advanced air cooling system, heat is effectively dissipated from critical board components with TORX FAN 5.0, up to 10 Core Pipes, Airflow Control fins featuring new Wave-curved 3.0 edges, and air antegrade fins. RTX 4080 SUPER based models also have a vapor chamber. Brushed aluminium on the exterior of the cooler and the backplate impart an armored aesthetic while reinforcing the length of the card. RGB Mystic Light flows with millions of colors and an array of customizable dynamic lighting options will dazzle onlookers. With Dual BIOS, users can quickly opt for low noise or for additional performance with the flick of a switch.

Next up we have the new kid on the block, MSI’s Expert series. This new GPU design is reminiscent of Nvidia’s Founders Edition GPU models, with its push-pull cooling design and vapour chamber technology.

EXPERT

The EXPERT graphics card features a push-pull airflow design for enhanced cooling efficiency. The enclosure is constructed with aluminium Die-Casting for structural strength, while Core Pipe and a Vapor Chamber work to efficiently dissipate heat. Lastly, a patented fan design provides quiet yet reliable airflow.

The Gaming X Trio is perhaps one of the most recognisable members of MSI’s entire GPU lineup. Before SURPIM, the gaming X series was one of MSI’s highest-end GPU models. While higher-end models exist now, the Gaming X series remains a strong option for gamers, and a favourite of long-time MSI fans.

GAMING TRIO

GAMING TRIO is available in both black or white colors, carrying forth a familiar MSI look while maintaining the same great balance between performance, cooling, and low noise that gamers have come to trust. Leading this series is the TORX Fan 5.0 design with pairs of three fan blades bound together with an outer link, forming a rim that focuses airflow into the updated TRI FROZR 3 cooling system. On the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER and RTX 4070 Ti SUPER models, a nickel-plated copper baseplate in the core of the heatsink quickly captures heat. The GAMING TRIO series is fitted with Dual BIOS to allow easy switching between Silent mode or Gaming mode for more performance. A brushed-metal backplate with flow-through design reinforces the graphics card, while also providing passive cooling action through the implementation of thermal pads. Mystic Light adorns the exterior of the graphics card, illuminating color in synchrony with the rest of the PC through Mystic Light Sync and Ambient Link.

The Gaming Slim series is a relatively new addition to MSI’s GPU lineup. We love the fact that these models tend to ship in both black and white. That makes the Gaming Slim series great news for anyone who wants to make an all-white PC. That said, the black model is a great option for almost anyone else.

GAMING SLIM

GAMING SLIM is available in both black and white versions, embodying GAMING characteristics with bold lines, clean edges, and RGB hues on a sleek appearance. Despite its slim profile, the GAMING SLIM’s advanced thermal capability isn’t compromised, utilizing much of the same TRI FROZR 3 cooling system as the GAMING TRIO including TORX FAN 5.0, a nickel-plated copper baseplate, and a metal backplate with a flow-through opening.

On the lower-end of MSI’s RTX 40 series lineup is their Ventus series. The Ventus lineup is is available in twin-fan X2 and triple-fan X3 forms. While models have also become available recently, which we think is a nice addition to MSI’s product range.

VENTUS

The VENTUS series provides a reliable and cost-effective option for gamers with a price-performance-focused approach. Built with a no-frills Spartan design philosophy, VENTUS 3X and VENTUS 2X maintain the essentials to accomplish any task at hand. The graphics cards come with award-winning TORX Fan 4.0, a reinforcing backplate, and a well-rounded aesthetic suitable for any build. VENTUS 2X WHITE cards feature an all new white and silver exterior variant of the original which fits in great with white themed builds.

Availability

Nvidia’s RTX 40 SUPER series will deliver more value to the PC gaming market. All three graphics cards are launching this month. Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Super is launching on January 17th. The RTX 4070 Ti is launching on January 24th. Finally, the RTX 4080 SUPER is launching on January 31st.
