Nvidia updates their Nvidia App to mitigate filters-related performance issues

Nvidia has released version 11.0.1 of their Nvidia App. This update for the Nvidia App turns “Game Filters” off by default, mitigating the app’s recently uncovered performance issues.

Nvidia has confirmed that they are “actively looking into” the issue and that it relates to “Game Filters”. Sadly, a fix for this is currently unavailable. However, disabling game filters does restore lost game performance.

Once Nvidia uncovers the cause of this issue, we expect Nvidia to release a hotfix driver update to address it quickly. This will return the performance of Nvidia GPUs to normal levels. It should also allow Nvidia’s Game Filters to be used without performance concerns.

New Updates

  • Game Filter now defaults to off. It can be enabled via Settings > Features > Overlay > Game Filters and Photo Mode.

Nvidia App Release Notes

Thanks to update 11.0.1, performance issues will no longer affect most users of the Nvidia app. Now, only gamers who want to use the app’s Game Filters will experience performance issues.
