Nvidia “investigating” reported RTX 50 series GPU issues

Nvidia investigates reports of RTX 50 series Blackwell GPU issues

In a statement to PC Gamer, Nvidia has confirmed that they are “investigating reported issues with RTX 50 series (Blackwell)” GPUs. Currently, there are reports of “Black screen” issues with Nvidia Blackwell GPUs and issues with PCIe 5.0 compatible PCs. Currently, reports of problems blame issues on several factors, making it unclear why some gamers are having trouble with their graphics cards.

In time, we expect the cause of these issues to become clearer. For now, some gamers are reporting “Black Screen” issues, BSOD issues, and some have claimed that their GPUs are “bricked.” Once Nvidia uncovers the cause of these issues, we expect a public statement on the topic. The issue may be addressed with the release of new drivers. However, it is unclear if these issues can be addressed with a simple software update.

We are investigating the reported issues with the RTX 50 series.

Nvidia to PC Gamer

Until Nvidia releases a public update on these issues, our recommendations are simple. If you are installing an RTX 50 series GPU inside your PC, you should do a clean driver install. Use Display Driver Uninstalled (DDU) to remove your prior drivers. This can prevent prior driver data from conflicting with your new GPU. Furthermore, it has been reported that setting PCIe 5.0 compatible PCs to PCIe 4.0 mode can help mitigate these issues.
