Nvidia RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 TDPs Leak
Nvidia’s RTX 50 series is less power hungry than expected – Leakers claim
According to the leakers hongxing2020 and kopite7kimi, Nvidia’s RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 graphics cards will likely be less power-hungry than expected. Previously, these GPUs reportedly had TDPs of 400W and 600W, respectively. Now, both GPUs reportedly have lower power targets.
Nvidia’s RTX 5080 now has a rumoured TDP of 360W, which is 40 watts higher than Nvidia’s current-generation RTX 4080. Nvidia’s RTX 5090 reportedly has a TDP of 575W, which is 125W more than their RTX 4090.
This large increase in GPU power makes sense for Nvidia’s RTX 5090. Previous leaks suggest that this GPU has 32GB of GDDR7 memory and 21,760 CUDA cores, which is a big increase over Nvidia’s RTX 4090. The RTX 4090 only has 16,384 CUDA cores and 24GB of GDDR6 memory, making it a much smaller GPU.
And RTX 5080 360W.

Recent specifications leaks state that Nvidia’s RTX 5080 has 10,752 CUDA cores. This is 10% more CUDA cores than Nvidia’s RTX 4080. However, it should be noted that the clock speeds and architectural benefits of Nvidia’s RTX 50 series architecture are unknown. Rumour has it that this GPU is 10% faster than today’s RTX 4090. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen.
Nvidia is due to launch its RTX 50 series of GPUs at CES 2025 on January 6th. Expect to hear more about Nvidia’s next-gen GPU lineup then.
