Nvidia’s revolutionised its notebook GPU offerings, upgrading its xx50 series of graphics cards with RTX features, delivering hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and DLSS to mid-range gaming laptops.

Presenting the RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti, two new RTX series graphics cards that are launching as mobile-exclusive products. These GPUs are designed to kick integrated graphics to the curb, offering excellent 1080p gaming performance and increase productivity for video rendering,

When compared to Nvidia’s GTX 1650 series of mobile GPUs, Nvidia offering their mid-range laptop users a tonne of new features. With Ampere, Nvidia’s RTX 3050 series offers gamers AI acceleration with their Tensor cores, Ray Tracing Acceleration with their RT cores and the performance advantages offered by Nvidia’s latest graphics architecture.

Sadly, Nvidia’s RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti will be limited to 4GB of GDDR6 memory, though this will be more than enough memory for many gaming workloads. That said, we would have liked to have seen 8GB models for both the RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3050.

Pricing-wise, Nvidia’s RTX 3050/3050 Ti-powered laptops are due to release with pricing as low as $799, with models coming from Nvidia launches their RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti Mobile GPUs for laptops.

With their RTX 3050 Ti, Nvidia’s promising a large performance uplift over the company’s existing GTX 1650 Ti graphics card, promising strong generational improvements in performance and even larger potential performance gains when DLSS is enabled.

In Call of Duty: Warzone, Nvidia’s promising 80 FPS performance with DLSS off and 100 FPS framerates with DLSS On. With their older GTX 1650 Ti graphics card, Nvidia delivers performance numbers of a little over 50 FPS.

Looking at Nvidia’s RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti specifications, Nvidia has launched both of their mobile-focused graphics cards with high TDP ranges, opening the door to various OEM designs with differing performance characteristics. This means that not all RTX 3050 or RTX 3050 Ti laptops will offer the same performance or power draw, though laptop vendors are expected to be transparent and list the power targets of their graphics cards online.
