Nvidia’s RTX 40 series is almost out of production – GeForce RTX 50 series the new focus

Nvidia reportedly shifts production capacity to their next-generation RTX 50 series graphics cards

Rumour has it that Nvidia has almost completely halted the production of its RTX 40 series of graphics cards. Now, most of Nvidia’s GPU production resources appear to be focused on its upcoming RTX 50 series products, which are due to launch in early 2025.

Nvidia’s AD107 production line is reportedly their only RTX 40 series production line that is still operational. Nvidia’s AD107 silicon is used to create their RTX 4060 graphics card. Higher-end GPU production resources are now focused on Nvidia’s Blackwell-based RTX 50 series GPUs.

Based on previous rumours, Nvidia plans to launch the bulk of its RTX 50 series lineup within the first few months of 2025. Nvidia’s RTX 5090, RTX 5090D, and RTX 5080 will reportedly launch in January. This will be followed by the launch of Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 in February. In March, Nvidia reportedly plans to release their RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060. Note that Nvidia’s RTX 4060 is still in production, and that it is the last GPU to be replaced by an RTX 50 series counterpart.

Currently, Nvidia is reportedly clearing stock of its RTX 40 series GPUs ahead of its planned 50 series launch. Note that this may allow for some strong GPU deals this Black Friday. However, this could lead to a shortage of some GPU models, potentially leading to a temporary price increase in some instances.
