TCL starts mass producing its first 4K Inkjet OLED displays
TCL are planning to transform the OLED screen market with their Inkjet OLED technology
TCL has announced that it has started mass-producing 21.6-inch 4K Inkjet OLED displays and revealed its new APEX brand for advanced display technologies. While OLED screens have become increasingly common in recent years, they remain expensive and are limited to specific form factors. Inkjet OLED technology promises to deliver more precision and, potentially, lower costs than traditional OLED screen manufacturing techniques. Additionally, the technology is more easily scaled to create larger screen sizes or more oddball screen sizes or aspect ratios.
TCL’s IJP (Inkjet Printing) OLED technology has been in development for 11 years. Now, the company is mass-producing its first IJP OLED screens. In time, production should expand to cover more screen sizes and resolutions. This could dramatically lower the cost of OLED screens and bring a larger variety of OLED screens to the display market.
At DTC2024, TCL CSOT announced the mass production of Inkjet Printing (IJP) OLED and launched its advanced display technology brand, APEX. The company also unveiled a series of representative new products showcasing its latest innovations.

Building upon 11 years of continuous research and innovation, TCL CSOT’s IJP OLED technology has achieved significant leaps and breakthrough in technical specifications, establishing new industry benchmarks. TCL CSOT has amassed a significant number of patents in the IJP OLED field, covering a wide range of applications including notebooks (NB), monitors (MNT), and televisions (TV). TCL CSOT’s breakthrough in the mass production of IJP OLED is not only a milestone in its commercialization process but also marks the beginning of a new round of technological revolution in the display industry. IJP OLED technology, with its advantages of better image quality, lower power consumption and longer lifespan, will inevitably lead technology towards goodness and lay a solid foundation for the independent development of display technology.

Based on specifications gathered from OLED-Info, TCL’s new 21.6 4K displays boast some impressive specifications. Note that these IJP OLED screens feature a Delta-E value of less than 1, 10-bit colour support, and 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space. Those are some high colour accuracy and consistency levels for such a pixel-dense OLED screen. Initially, these screens will target the professional market, where their pixel density and colour accuracy will be most valued.
