Zotac issues RTX 5060 Ti VBIOS updates to address black screen issues

Zotac addressed RTX 5060 Ti black screen issues with new VBIOS update

Zotac has officially released VBIOS updates for its RTX 5060 Ti graphics cards, eliminating potential blackscreen issues for users with “a legacy motherboard.” This issue would cause users to reboot their PC to a blank screen, rendering their PCs unusable.

Users who are not facing this issue should avoid this BIOS update. For those affected by this issue, several solutions are available. First, users should update their motherboard’s BIOS and ensure it is set to UEFI mode. This can address this issue. If not, users should connect their PC to an alternative graphics solution (like integrated graphics) and update their GPU’s VBIOS.

Zotac’s new GPU BIOS files are available through their GPU’s product pages and the company’s download center.

GUIDE TO UPDATE VBIOS FOR 5060 Ti USERS

This guide is for users of the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Series (16GB/8GB) who have encountered a blank screen after rebooting the PC.

Root Cause: Use of a legacy motherboard.

Solution: Apply a GPU VBIOS update.

The following should only be attempted if your aforementioned graphics card model is currently experiencing this issue. If not, there is no need to update the VBIOS of your graphics card.

If you are currently experiencing a blank screen during reboot, please try one of the following workarounds in order to get a video output to run the tool:

  • Ensure you are using the latest SBIOS from your motherboard vendor
  • Ensure you are in UEFI boot mode and not Legacy/CSM
  • Boot using an alternate graphics source (secondary card or integrated graphics) or alternative system if available
  • Alternatively, boot into Windows safe mode.

Last month, Nvidia released similar fixes for RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti graphics cards. While it is nice to see Zotac issuing its own fix for its GPU models, it is strange that its acknowledgement of the issue comes almost a month after Nvidia’s. Furthermore, it is strange that they have not released fixes for their RTX 5060 series GPUs.
