Are you ready to “switch up” your gaming rig? That’s what ASUS’ ROG division are asking. ASUS has started teasing custom Republic of Gamers key switches, a development which could transform the company’s keyboard offerings.

On September 2nd, ASUS has planned an “ASUS Virtual Launch Event” called “Built for Brilliance”, where the company plans to reveal a wide range of new products. This event will be hosted at 6 PM UK time, and ROG fans should expect to see a lot of new products.

Above, we have ASUS’ teaser image for their planned ROG keyboard switch, and beside it, we have lightly edited it to highlight some of the details on these switches. For starters, we can see an ASUS ROG eye logo, confirming that these switches are manufactured to ASUS’ exacting ROG specifications.

These key switches won’t be found within non-ROG products, and their existence alone suggests that ASUS plans to move away from Cherry MX key switches with their future ROG keyboards. However, it is likely that ASUS will offer its customers both Cherry and ROG key switch options with their soon-to-be-released ROG keyboards.

PC gamers can expect to hear more about ASUS’ ROG key switches at the company’s Virtual Launch Event next Tuesday. Here, we should learn more about the specifications of these key switches, and why ASUS plans to use them over Cherry’s existing MX offerings.
