G.Skill takes Registered memory to the next level with their DDR5-6400 Zeta R5 DDR5 modules

G.Skill have successfully brought together the worlds of high performance enthusiast and workstation-grade memory with their new Zeta R5 Registered DDR5 memory modules, DRAM modules that will be available with up to DDR5-6400 speeds with ECC support.

These modules were first showcased by the enthusiast overclocker Roman “der8auer” Hartung, who showcased the modules in his latest Intel Sapphire Rapids video. Here, der8auer showcased eight G.Skill Zeta R5 memory modules running at DDR5-6400 speeds on an Intel Sapphire Rapids processor. Simply put, these speeds are nuts, especially for a system with eight DRAM modules.

With eight 16GB Zeta R5 DDR5 memory modules, der8auer was able to utilise 6400 MT/s speeds with 128GB of DDR5 DRAM with an Intel Xeon w9-3495X. This memory was used in 8-channel mode, boasting an insane level of memory bandwidth.

In terms of CAS latencies, G.Skill’s new ZETA Z5 Registered DDR5 memory modules also impress, with their fastest modules offering DDR5-6400 speeds with CL32-39-39-102 timings with 16GB modules in 4-channel and 8-channel kits. Larger 32GB modules are also available with lower frequencies, offering users up to 256GB of memory across eight memory channels.

With their new Zeta R5 registered DDR5 memory modules, G.Skill has showcased that ECC compatible Registered DDR5 memory can deliver performance levels that are far above the norm, allowing users to accelerate their workloads with faster DRAM modules with tighter timings. For those who want the best performance from their high-performance Sapphire Rapids workstations, G.Skill’s new Zeta R5 memory kits are worth looking into when they become publicly available. That said, expect these DRAM modules to be incredibly expensive.
