2024 will be the year that US customers will be able buy cars through Amazon

Amazon and Hyundai partners up to start car sales in the US through Amazon.com

Hyundai and Amazon have announced a new strategic partnership that will see vehicle sales arrive on Amazon.com in 2024. Yes, soon you will be able to buy cars on Amazon, and the Hyundai partnership does not end there.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been selected as Hyundai’s preferred cloud provider. Next-generation Hyundai cards will feature Amazon Alexa as a built-in feature.

Using the Amazon digital shopping experience, customers will be able to customise and purchase cars online. Buyers can have their cars delivered to a local dealership, or have it delivered to customers by their local dealership. Customers will be able to select the trim, colour, and features of their chosen vehicle, and select payment and financing options.

In the US, many states have laws that prevent automakers from sidestepping dealerships. This is why Amazon have made it clear that local dealerships will remain part of the sales process. It is unknown if Amazon will receive commission from vehicle sales, or what benefits Amazon will receive from Hyundai aside from their Alexa and AWS partnership. If nothing else, Amazon will receive a lot of purchasing data from car purchasers. This data will be useful for product recommendations.
