Bambu Lab launches its H2S 3D printer
Bambu Lab has launched the large-format 3D printer that enthusiasts have been begging for
Bambu Lab has officially launched its new H2S 3D printer, or rather, manufacturing hub. Yes, like the Bambu Lab H2D, the H2S has an optional laser cutter and an optional cutting module. This makes the H2S more than just a 3D printer, giving users a suite of manufacturing options in one place.
For the most part, the H2S is an H2D with a single extruder, abandoning the dual-nozzle setup of the H2D in favour of a more standard nozzle design. This takes away many of the niche benefits of the H2D’s design, but also has some upsides. For starters, the H2S has a larger build area, measuring in at 340 x 320 x 340mm. In contrast, the H2D has a confusing build area that is defined by its unusual nozzle setup.
The H2D excels at multi-material and multi-colour 3D printing. The H2S still supports strong multi-colour printing with Bambu Labs’ AMS 2 Pro, but it lacks the benefits of the H2D’s dual nozzle setup, which could reduce filament waste.
Compared to the Bambu Lab X1C, the H2S has a build volume that is 220% larger, and printing speeds that are up to 30% faster. The H2S features full AI print failure detection, halting prints when the printer’s camera detects errors. This can prevent massive filament waste, which can occur during print failures. It also features a nozzle that can handle 350°C temperatures and an actively heated build chamber that can operate at up to 65°C. This allows the H2S to handle many exotic or high-performance filaments.
The H2S will be available in standard and Laser Edition forms, with the Laser Edition coming with the printer’s optional laser add-on and cutting/plotting tool. The printer also supports the company’s AMS 2 PRO and AMS HT add-ons.
Bambu Lab H2S Pricing and Availability
The Bambu Lab H2S is now available from Bambu Labs. The standard model costs £600 less than the Bambu Lab H2D, giving buyers major cost savings. If you don’t want or need the H2D’s dual nozzle setup, this change makes the H2S a bargain. If you’re looking for a Bambu Lab X1C that’s faster and bigger, the H2S is the printer for you.
- H2S – £999.99/$1249
- H2S + AMS Combo – £1,199/$1499
- H2S Laser Full Combo – £1799/$2099
