Bambu Lab to launch its revolutionary H2C 3D printer next week

Bambu Lab’s getting ready to launch its H2C multi-material 3D printer next week

Update – Bambu Lab has officially launched its H2C 3D printer.

Bambu Lab has confirmed that it will be launching its Vortek-powered H2C 3D printer at Formnext 2025 on November 18th. The H2C is Bambu Labs’ newest multi-material 3D printer, building upon the benefits of its H2D 3D printer (review here) and taking them to the next level.

Using their new Vortek Hotend Change System, Bambu Lab are building a 3D printer that can switch between seven colours without any purging. This saves precious material, making many colour/material 3D prints make a lot more sense. With its induction heating system, this hotend changing system can heat a nozzle in eight seconds. This will make multi-colour printing incredibly fast compared to standard AMS-style filament changing systems.

This isn’t a tool-changer, it’s something different

With Bambu Lab’s Vortek system, only the hotend changes. This saves a lot of space, as changing toolheads requires much more space. Furthermore, it reduces costs by requiring fewer replicated parts. With this system, each hotend can share a single cooling system, power system, signal cables, and sensor system.

Based on the video below, the H2C uses a similar design to the H2D. The print head has two nozzles, with the right nozzle being switchable. The right nozzle can switch between six nozzle options. Note that the left nozzle appears static/unchanging. This is how the H2C can support seven colours and materials wothout purging

Currently, it’s unknown how material handling works with the Bambu Lab H2C. Will the left/unchanging nozzle support the Bambu Lab AMS? Where will the six spools go for the six switchable hot-ends? Is a 6-way AMS system launching soon? We expect to learn more about the H2C soon.

Upgrade options for H2S and H2D users

Bambu Lab has confirmed that its H2C 3D printer will be available as a standalone product and as an upgrade for H2S and H2D users. Note that while an upgrade kit is available, it will require “hands-on skill” to upgrade. Furthermore, upgrading to H2S and H2D will incur additional costs. In other words, buying an H2S or H2D and upgrading later will cost more than just buying an H2C.

Bambu Lab has previously confirmed that its H2C and H2C upgrade kits will be available in Q4 2025.

The “Vortek” is both an upgrade system specifically designed for the complete H2 series of Bambu Lab 3D printers, as well as equipped on a brand-new flagship printer H2C. The upgrade kit for existing H2D/H2S users will allow them to upgrade their current 3D Printer with the Vortek system. Since the upgrade requires hands-on skill, we suggest purchasing the H2C directly in Q4 to experience the Vortek system. Upgrading an H2S or H2D later will incur additional costs..
