BOX UK is coming back! Expect the PC retailer to relaunch soon

BOX UK is making a comeback!

At the start of this year the popular PC retailer BOX UK closed down. Now, the company is making a comeback. Soon the website will be relaunched under new ownership, with many of former employees of BOX re-joining the company’s new incarnation.

Today, Five Tech LTD has announced that they have acquired Box LTD’s Intellectual Property Assets and the Box.co.uk domain. Soon, Box.co.uk will become the trading name of Five Tech LTD. This was announced earlier today on LinkedIn.

Manu Hussain, the Director of Five Tech and Box.co.uk, has stated that he plans to build up Box to be “better than ever before”. As mentioned before, the company will be bringing in experienced members of the original Box team, and aims to relaunch the Box website soon.

What happened to the original Box UK?

As mentioned above, Box closed down in January 2024. This closure was due to financial issues following Tactus Limited’s acquisition of Box Limited. Currently, there is an ongoing legal battle between Tactus and five of Box’s former directors over this issue. Currently, it is unknown to us what Box’s directors allegedly did, but it seems to have resulted in major financial issues that have lead to the closure of Box and broader problems within the Tactus Group.

These financial issues following Box’s acquisition in 2022 have had a huge impact on the British tech retail sector. Tactus Limited also owned CCL Computers and Chillblast. Now, both of these UK tech retailers are now under new ownership.

Box is coming back, and we look forward to seeing what the resurrected retailer will bring to the UK’s PC and components market.
