Huge Microsoft outage takes down Xbox, Minecraft and more

Microsoft Azure has experienced a major outage, taking down internet services both inside and outside of the company. DownDetector is seeing a major spike in outage reports for Microsoft services, including Minecraft, Xbox, Microsoft Outlook, Office 365, Teams, and more. There are also outage complaints for users of Microsoft’s Azure services in the US, including Starbucks, Costco, Zoom, and Capital One.

This news comes little more than a week after Amazon’s AWS outage, which affected users worldwide. When combined, Amazon and Microsoft account for around 50% of the global computing market, and both have suffered outages this month.

Microsoft has confirmed that they are now working on addressing its “Azure Network Availability Issues.” Sadly, it is unknown when a fix for today’s issues will be implemented.

Microsoft is currently investigating the root cause of today’s problems and working to address them. Until then, the online functionality of Microsoft connected services may be impacted.
