New plans and Pricing - Disney is changing in Europe

Disney will soon have a cheaper Ad-supported tier in Europe

Following Disney’s announcement of price increases in the US for their Disney streaming service, the company has confirmed that new subscriptions tiers will be coming to their steaming service in Europe.

On November 1st 2023, Disney will have three subscription tiers in 9 European countries. These nations are Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. These new subscription plans include two standard plans, one of which is ad-supported, and a premium plan that includes 4K streaming support, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos support.

Disney’s new standard plans will be limited to a maximum of 1080p streaming without HDR and with 5.1 surround sound. In the UK the ad-supported version of this plan will cost £4.99 per month, and the version without ads will cost £7.99. Disney Plus’ premium plan will also be seeing a price increase to 10.99 in the UK.

Standard plan users will be limited to two concurrent streams while premium plan users will have access to four stream. Every plan except for the ad-supported plan will also allow users to download content for offline viewing.

New plans and Pricing - Disney is changing in Europe

At the time of writing, Disney costs £7.99 per month in the UK, offering everything that Disney’s planned “premium plan” will offer on November 1st. If you want to maintain Disney Plus’ current pricing, you will need to downgrade to the service’s standard version, which will limit the quality of your streamed content. If you want to have access to Disney at a lower monthly cost, the service’s standard with ads plan will lower the service’s price to £4.99 per month, which is the same pricing as Netflix’s ad-supported tier.
