The Beyond3D forums are now closed

The Beyond3D forums have been shut down

On January 16th at 4.28 PM, the Beyond3D forums were officially closed down. Due to a lack of resources, and other factors, the forums could not be maintained. As such, the PC hardware community has lost another major forum.

Beyond3D was once a news and review website. The website primarily focused on GPU technology and graphics. The news/reviews side of the website wound down many years ago, but the site remained active thanks to its forums. Now, even the site’s forums are shutting down.

One of the problems that have led to the closure of Beyond3D was moderation. Discussions can get heated, and a rise in “toxic behaviour” has made the forums more challenging to maintain. With limited moderating capabilities, it is hard to prevent a forum from becoming a toxic environment.

Below is what BRiT, a Forum moderator, had to say when announcing the forum’s closure.

The rise of social media has had a huge impact of the use of forums across the internet. Facebook groups, subreddits, and Twitter/X feeds have replaced forums for many users. This has led to many forums closing down over the past decade, especially within the PC enthusiast space.

You can join the discussion on the closure of the Beyond3D forums on the OC3D Forums.
