ASRock launches L-Shaped 12V-2×6 power cables with Over-Temperature Protection
ASRock ships its first L-shaped 12V-2×6 cables with built-in Over-Temperature Protection
At Computex 2025, ASRock unveiled new Taichi and Phantom Gaming power supply units (PSUs), both of which shipped with custom 12V-2×6 (16-pin) power connectors that include “Cable Over-Temperature Protection.” This feature is exclusive to ASRock’s new Taichi and Phantom Gaming PSUs. Now, ASRock has launched a new L-shaped version of this custom cable.
ASRock built a safer 12V-2×6 power cable
ASRock’s “Cable Over-Temperature Protection” tech is a patented technology. It used an NTC sensor to monitor the temperature of the connector and send that data to the PSU. This allows compatible ASRock PSUs to shut down your PC in the event of overheating, preventing damage to the cable or your graphics card.
ASRock had also used a dual-colour design with its power connectors. This makes it easier for users to know if their PSU cables are fully inserted. If you can see this PSU cable’s green connector, your cable is not fully seated. With this design, ASRock makes it less likely for users to improperly connect their 16-pin GPU power cables.
Honestly, it is great to see that ASRock has taken steps to increase the safety of 12V-2×6 power connectors. Overheating protection should ensure that ASRocks compatible PSUs shut down your PC before excessive heat builds up and melts your power cable and its connected graphics card. This is a useful feature, and one that will make ASRock’s PSUs more attractive to users.
