ASUS’ “safer” ROG Equalizer 12V-2×6 cable priced at $49.99
ASUS’ enhanced 12V-2×6 cable now has a price tag
Earlier this month, ASUS unveiled its ROG Equalizer 12V-2×6 power cable. Now, ASUS has listed this cable on its official US storefront (thanks to Uniko’s Hardware) with an official price tag of $49.99. So far, this cable has only been listed in the US. This means that UK and EU pricing is unconfirmed.
ASUS’ listing has also confirmed that this cable will have a “White Edition” variant, making it ideal for all-white ASUS/ROG PC builds. These listings also confirm that this cable will be available as a standalone product. Previously, ASUS has confirmed that this cable is “compatible with PSUs from leading manufacturers”. That means that users won’t need an ASUS ROG PSU to use this GPU power cable.
ASUS claims this cable has a rated current capacity of 17A per cable, where a standard 12V-2×6 cable is rated for 9.2A per cable. However, its main selling point is its automatic load-balancing feature. This ensures that current is distributed equally across this cable’s strands. This prevents uneven power delivery from causing localised heat buildup within this 12V-2×6 power connector, protecting your GPU, PSU, and power cable. Thanks to this change, this PSU cable and its connectors shouldn’t overheat or melt under heavy loads.

For $50, this PSU cable may become a must-have item for high-end RTX GPU owners. After all, $50 is a small price to pay to ensure that high-end $1,000+ RTX GPUs don’t have their power connectors melt.
ASUS claims that its design is patented. That said, it is possible that similar cables will be released by other manufacturers soon.
