AMD teases their RDNA 2 “Hangar 21” Tech Demo

November 18th marks the launch of AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 series of graphics cards, bringing the company’s RDNA 2 architecture to the masses outside of a console system.

To celebrate this launch, and the technological innovations of AMD’s RDNA architecture, AMD has created a tech demo called “Hangar 21”. This tech demo will showcase the “foundation of next generation gaming”, showcasing the full DirectX 12 Ultimate feature set alongside AMD’s FidelityFX suite of open technologies.

On November 19th, AMD should be releasing the tech demo to the masses. If not, why would AMD release a demo trailer which highlights a release date? Hopefully, we are returning to the era of publically available GPU tech demos.

At this time, it is unknown whether or not AMD’s “Hangar 21” tech demo will be available exclusively to users of Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards. In theory, FidelityFX and DirectX 12 Ultimate effects should be usable on Nvidia’s RTX series graphics cards, potentially making AMD’s “Hangar 21” demo usable by all PC gamers.

Coming November 19, the “Hangar 21” Technology Demo Video will let you see the breakthrough AMD RDNA 2 gaming architecture in action, the foundation of the AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards that power the next generation of gaming with mind-blowing visuals featuring realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections enabled by AMD FidelityFX and Microsoft DirectX 12 Ultimate.
