America’s Army 3 Announced

Let’s Kick Some Butt!

The US Army have announced the latest game to fly under the ‘America’s Army’ banner, imaginatively titled America’s Army 3. It will be available to download later this year, and as with the previous two incarnations, it will be free to download and play. It will feature tweaks and additions to the available arsenel of weapons within the game, bringing it upto date with what is currently at the US Army’s disposal.

The game is more akin to a military simulation, and forces players to think in terms of tactics and strategies, which seperates it from alot of first person shooters. The game will be built to utilise the Unreal Engine 3, which is the same game engine used in Mirrors Edge, Unreal Tournament and the Rainbow Six series of games, amongst others.  For those who have played America’s Army 1 or 2, there are the usual ‘patriotic flag flying’ momements to be had, which is expected as America’s Army is intended to be a recruitment tool for the US Army.
