Capcom promises major Monster Hunter Wilds PC optimisation updates
Capcom plans three major PC optimisation updates for Monster Hunter Wilds
Capcom have confirmed that they have three major PC updates planned for Monster Hunter Wilds’ PC version, all of which aim to optimise the game and improve its stability and performance. The first of these updates will arrive on December 16th as part of Title Update 4.
To say the least, MH: Wilds’ PC version runs poorly. This is especially true for players who own GPUs with 8GB of VRAM or less. Gamers have managed to address these issues using a texture decompression mod, implying that Capcom could easily address some of the game’s problems.
With Title Update 4, all versions of Monster Hunter: Wilds will receive CPU and GPU optimisations. This includes changes to frame processing, collision detection, and the number of simultaneous effects. By reducing unnecessary processes, Capcom aims to lower CPU and GPU load. Furthermore, Capcom is implementing more than 100 processing improvements to boost performance.
2026 Performance Updates
In January, Capcom plans to add new PC-only optimisations for CPU and GPU performance. Additionally, shader compilation will be improved to reduce stuttering. Finally, changes will be made to improve VRAM usage and to improve texture streaming for the game’s high-resolution texture pack.
As part of February’s planned update, further CPU and GPU optimisations are planned. New LOD options are also intended to help reduce GPU loads, further boosting performance.
Monster Hunter: Wilds will soon run faster on PC
Following the release of these updates, MH: Wilds should run much faster on both PC and consoles. Honestly, this level of optimisation should have been implemented when Wilds launched. The fact that title update 4 eliminated “unnecessary processes” is a clear sign that this MH: Wilds’ launch version had a lot of room for improvement.
If these updates have the intended effect, Monster Hunter: Wilds should become easier to run and smoother running on PC. That should make the game more appealing to gamers, especially as new DLC content arrives.
