CD Projekt Red’s E3 2019 Demos for Cyberpunk 2077 were running on PC

At E3 2019, CD Projekt Red has been showcasing Cyberpunk 2077 to both the public and the press, wowing attendees with the game’s amazing graphical features, so much so that many referred to the game as “next-gen” despite the title’s planned release on PS4 and Xbox One.

Recent articles online have reported that Cyberpunk 2077’s E3 demo was running on a PS4 Pro, with Dave Thier writing on Forbes that “the demo was running on a PS4 Pro, which isn’t even the most powerful console on the market”. This article has since made it to CD Projekt Red’s Global Community Manager, Marcin Momot, who has refuted this claim stating that “The game was shown on PC [Translated from Polish]”, as a direct response to Forbes’ PS4 Pro claims.

That’s right, the E3 demos for Cyberpunk 2077 were running on PC, which is unsurprising given Cyberpunk 2077’s multi-platform status. This may also be why CD Projekt’s gameplay demo was not showcased online, over fears that gamers will cry “downgrade” when the game eventually launches in April 2020.

Nvidia has recently confirmed that the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 will feature RTX raytracing within the game, a graphical feature that sits well beyond the capabilities of today’s console hardware. There is no doubt that PC will be Cyberpunk 2077’s lead platform, at least in terms of visuals, especially when combined with the latest and greatest graphics tech.
