Cyberpunk 2077 becomes the first game to support DLSS 4 and its “Transformer” AI models

Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.2.1 is now available

Patch 2.21 is now available for Cyberpunk 2077, adding new fixes to the game on PC and consoles alongside support for Nvidia’s DLSS 4 technology. This has made Cyberpunk 2077 the first game to support DLSS 4, Nvidia’s next-generation upscaling and frame-generation solution.

With DLSS 4, Nvidia has Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to a new transformer model with this iteration of DLSS. These new models enjoy double the parameters of Nvidia’s old DLSS models. This enables greater levels of image stability, reduced ghosting, smoother edges and more detail in motion. In layman’s terms, DLSS has just received an image quality boost.

Additionally, DLSS 4 also features a new model for DLSS Frame Generation. This new model is 40% faster and reduced VRAM usage by 30%. For Warhammer 40K: Darktide, this result gave Nvidia a 10% boost in framerate and a 400MB reduction in VRAM usage.

Added support for DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation for GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards, which boosts FPS by using AI to generate up to three times per traditionally rendered frame – enabled with GeForce RTX 50 Series on January 30th. DLSS 4 also introduces faster single Frame Generation with reduced memory usage for RTX 50 and 40 Series. Additionally, you can now choose between the CNN model or the new Transformer model for DLSS Ray Reconstruction, DLSS Super Resolution, and DLAA on all GeForce RTX graphics cards today. The new Transformer model enhances stability, lighting, and detail in motion.

Patch Notes

The benefits of DLSS 4 will be best shown with Nvidia’s RTX 50 series GPU, as they will be the only graphics cards to support DLSS Multi Frame Generation. Note that Nvidia’s first RTX 50 series GPUs will become available on January 30th.
