Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.2 update gives Arrow Lake a 33% boost

Cyberpunk 2077’s latest update gives Intel’s Core Ultra 200 series CPUs a boost

CD Projekt Red has released update 2.2 for Cyberpunk 2077, adding new customisation options, an overhauled photo mode, and changes to the game’s vehicle system. Additionally, the game has been optimised for Intel’s new Core Ultra 200 series (Arrow Lake CPUs). These optimisations can net performance gains as large as 33% for Intel’s newest CPUs.

You will know that we were not impressed if you read our CPU review for Intel’s Arrow Lake processors. Gaming performance was lacklustre, with Intel’s last-generation CPUs outperforming their newest models. Now, Cyberpunk 2077 runs much better on Intel’s new Arrow Lake CPUs. That said, this game did not run well on Intel’s Arrow Lake processors. Is this “up to 33%” boost enough for Arrow Lake to best Intel 14th Gen? We will have to wait for benchmarks.

  • Optimized threading system to improve performance by up to 33% on Intel Arrow Lake based CPUs.

While the additions patch 2.2 gave to Cyberpunk 2077 are welcome, it is disappointing that CD Project Red has not updated Cyberpunk 2077 with support for the latest versions of FSR and XeSS on PC. These changes would have been a major upgrade for PC gamers. In fact, Cyberpunk 2077 also uses AMD’s FSR upscaler on consoles, which means that upgrading to FSR 3.1 would also benefit console players.
