Update 6.66 Rev 2.2 has removed Denuvo from DOOM Eternal’s PC version
Bethesda Softworks has just released a new update for DOOM Eternal that has removed Denuvo from the game’s PC version, freeing the game from the controversial anti-tamper technology.
Denuvo is a controversial anti-tamper technology that is designed to prevent the piracy of PC games, but has also been found to negatively affect the performance of some titles, and interfere with the modding of many games. Most conversations about Denuvo online involve PC gamers expressing their dislike of the anti-tamper technology, and gamers often request developers to remove the technology from their games. Now, Bethesda has listened and has removed Denuvo from DOOM Eternal’s PC version.
This update comes over three years after the launch of DOOM Eternal on PC and consoles, but since launch the game has recieved two DLC packs and a ray tracing update. With the release of Patch 6.66 Rev 2.2, the game’s “Boosters” feature has been removed on all platforms, and the game’s PC version has had its implimentation of Denuvo removed.
