Details of AMD’s Navi 14 and Navi 12 chips leak – Big Navi and Small Navi

Rumour has it that AMD plans to release high-end and low-end Radeon Navi graphics cards before the end of 2019, challenging Nvidia’s high-end RTX offerings as well as the company’s low-end GTX-16XX series.

With this move, AMD will bring RDNA to an incredibly wide audience, fully replacing the company’s ageing Polaris lineup with stronger, more power-efficient product offerings.

Now, specifications for AMD’s rumoured Navi 12 and Navi 14 GPU designs have leaked, pointing towards Navi/RDNA products with as many as 4096 stream processors. Yes, AMD will have a proper challenger to Nvidia’s RTX 2080 Super, assuming that these rumours are correct.

On the low-end, we have Navi 14, which allegedly offers up to 1536 stream processors and acts as a replacement for AMD’s RX 570, RX 580 and RX 590 graphics cards. This will take the fight to Nvidia’s Geforce GTX 1660, which is perhaps why Nvidia seemingly has a GTX 1660 Super in the works.

On the high-end, we have AMD’s Navi 12 graphics chip, which basically acts as an RDNA version of AMD’s RX Vega 64 silicon on 7nm with GDDR6 memory. That’s right, AMD’s Navi architecture with a stream processor count of up to 4096. That’s 60% more stream processors than the Radeon RX 5700 XT. With this card, AMD has the chance to surpass Nvidia’s RTX 2080 Super.

If these rumoured specifications are correct, AMD has set themselves up for a lot of success in late 2019, challenging Nvidia with strong products in all areas of the GPU market. The question now is, when does Nvidia plan to respond with their own post-Turing graphics offerings? Nvidia still has the option to jump to a 7nm lithography node.
