Developer sees “no reason” to add promised RTX support to Assetto Corsa Competizione
Our priority is to improve, optimize, and evolve all aspects of ACC. If after our long list of priorities the level of optimization of the title, and the maturity of the technology, permits a full blown implementation of RTX, we will gladly explore the possibility, but as of now there is no reason to steal development resources and time for a very low frame rate implementation.
One thing that must be noted is that Assetto Corsa Competizione officially released on May 29th, 2019 after releasing on Steam Early Access. While development is ongoing, it is hard to see “optimisation” as an excuse here. Assetto Corsa Competizione is a retail product, and as such should have reached a solid level of software maturity.
Furthermore, while none of Kunos’ official marketing materials lists RTX support amongst the game’s planned features, the company never denied Nvidia’s claims that RTX support was coming to the game. There is no shortage of articles about Assetto Corsa Competizione that discuss the game’s plans to support Nvidia RTX raytracing. Kunos Simulazioni has not denied any of these claims. We have contacted Assetto Corsa Competizione for further comments on this issue.
When Nvidia revealed its RTX series of graphics cards, Assetto Corsa Competizione was one of Nvidia’s highlight games alongside Battlefield V and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. At a minimum, Kunos Simulazioni has been deceptive with its marketing of Assetto Corza Competizione, as the game’s planned RTX support garnered a lot of headlines at Gamescom 2018. We hope to update this article as we learn more.
