DLSS 4 Adoption just become easier – Nvidia has released a DLSS 4 Plugin for Unreal Engine 5
Nvidia has released a DLSS 4 Plugin for Unreal Engine 5
DLSS 4 has been a transformative release for Nvidia. Yes, it adds “Multi-Frame Generation” to RTX 50 series GPUs, but the vital part of DLSS 4 is its new “Transformer” based AI models. They deliver higher levels of image quality, and that’s what makes DLSS 4 special. Now, DLSS 4 adoption has become a lot easier, as Nvidia has released a DLSS 4 Plugin for Unreal Engine 5.
Specifically, Nvidia’s new DLSS plugin is for Unreal Engine 5’s 5.2 to 5.5 versions. Older versions of Unreal Engine are not supported. This is bad news for users of older versions of Unreal Engine 5. That said, the latest versions of Unreal Engine 5 are a lot more performant than their predecessors. As such, new game projects should use the latest version of Unreal Engine 5 to get the most out of PC/console hardware.
With Nvidia’s DLSS 4 Plugin, game developers can access a suite of features. This includes DLSS Multi-Frame Generation, DLSS Frame generation, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, DLSS Super Resolution, and DLSS Anti-Aliasing. With DLSS 4, DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS Ray Reconstruction now use Transformer-based AI models, boosting game image quality.
Thanks to the release of this Plugin, more Unreal Engine 5 games will support Nvidia’s newest versions of DLSS on day 1. For games without native DLSS 4 support, Nvidia’s DLSS Override tool is an option.
