Don’t expect The Witcher 4 before 2027, CD Projekt reveals
The Witcher 4 will be released in 2027 at the earliest, CD Projekt claims
During the company’s latest earnings presentation, CD Projekt confirmed that The Witcher 4 will not be released before the start of 2027. Sadly, CD Project did not reveal a firm release timeframe for the game.
Below is what CD Projekt’s financial officer said about the game in answer to an investor’s question.
We are not going to announce the precise launch date for the game yet,
All we could share now to give more visibility to investors is that the game will not be launched within the time frame of the first target for the incentive program, which ends December 31, 2026.
The Witcher 4 was revealed at The Game Awards 2024. This time, Geralt of Rivia will not be the game’s protagonist. This time, Ciri will be the game’s main character. Now, Ciri appears to be a full Witcher, which means that she should have all of the powers of Geralt (and likely more).
Unlike prior games in the series, The Witcher 4 will not use CD Projekt Red’s RED Engine. Unreal Engine 5 is being used to create the game. So far, no screenshots or gameplay for The Witcher 5 have been released. It is also unknown if the game will launch on current-generation console platforms.
Like their prior game releases, CD Projekt Red appears to be working in collaboration with Nvidia when developing The Witcher 4. Both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 launched with Nvidia-optimised graphical features, and the same will likely be true for The Witcher 4.
