DOOM Eternal has been delayed until 2020

id Software has confirmed that DOOM Eternal has been delayed until 2020 on all platforms, revealing a new release date of March 20th 2020 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. DOOM Eternal’s Nintendo Switch version will be delayed until a later date.

DOOM Eternal has been delayed to ensure that the game delivers the “best experience” for players and that the game is able to meet id Software’s standards for both “speed and polish”. id Software has also confirmed that DOOM Eternal’s “Invasion Mode” will release as a free update for the game after launch and that DOOM 64 will be available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as a pre-order bonus for the game.

Graphically, DOOM Eternal makes several steps to differentiate itself from its predecessor, significantly increasing the game’s geometry count and graphical fidelity while running on the same console platforms as DOOM 2016. On top of this, the PC version of DOOM Eternal is due to release with support for hardware-accelerated raytracing, which will take the game’s visuals another step beyond what’s possible on consoles.

Below is id Software’s announcement post for DOOM Eternal’s delay.
