Dragon’s Dogma 2 receives new PC upgrades with update 4.0

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Dark Arisen Expansion has arrived alongside update 4.0

Today, Capcom officially released update 4.0 for Dragon’s Dogma 2 and its Dark Arisen Expansion, adding new RPG content and PC feature upgrades.

On all platforms, Dragon’s Dogma 2 now has new character creator options. The game now has an optional “hard mode” (which can be enabled in existing saves). Additionally, PC gamers can now benefit from FSR 3 Frame Generation and Nvidia DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. PS5 Pro players can also benefit from “enhanced PSSR 2”. Capcom’s announcement made no mention of Intel XeSS Upscaling or Frame Generation.

Also out today is Title Update 4.0 for the base Dragon’s Dogma 2 game, which includes a bevy of features and improvements to the game, such as the addition of Hard Mode (which can be applied to an existing or new save), an option to restart the game at any time using the same save data and support for FSR 3 Frame Generation and DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. All in all, this update offers both new and seasoned players challenging adventures worthy of their mettle and a more immersive experience with smoother gameplay and performance.

Dramatic performance improvements since launch

Last month we reported on Dragon’s Dogma update 3.2, which delivered tremendous PC performance improvements. The game is now much less CPU-limited on PC, making the game less stuttery and more performant in NPC-heavy areas. Overall, the game now runs much faster and smoother on PC, giving gamers a much better gameplay experience. Clearly, Capcom’s Switch 2 optimisations for Dragon’s Dogma 2 have paid off.
