EA hints a huge overhaul of Battlefront II’s progression system
The biggest concern with the title, the “pay-to-win” options provided by Battlefront II’s loot boxes, was removed from the game before launched. This change meant that loot could only be earned using in-game currency, preventing players from paying real money for the chance to get high-end perks.
The removal of paid loot boxes has alleviated a lot of the game’s “pay-to-win” concern, but it has created a system where newcomers to the game have a statistical disadvantage to others (due to their lack of perks) and has made the game’s progression system feel very slow to some player.
In March, EA plans to introduce a revamped progression system, using player feedback to address a lot of the issues that players have with the title. A new game mode called Jetpack Cargo is also coming to the game, as well as a new season of game content. At this time it is unknown whether or not this new season of content will include another addition to the game’s single-player campaign.Â

And to quote Luke Skywalker on the salt-covered plains of Crait, âthe war is just beginning.â The most recent update added Iden’s TIE/LN fighter as a hero starfighter and incorporated the Crait map into Blast Mode. The next few months are packed with massive additions to Star Wars Battlefront II.
– We’re working on a revamped progression system. Your feedback has been essential here, and we are preparing significant changes to progression that will address many of the things we’ve seen players asking for. We’ll be sharing more details about these changes in March.
– A game mode called Jetpack Cargo is coming in February. Two teams of eight players equipped with jet packs compete in Jetpack Cargo, a frantic, fast-paced way to play. This mode will only be available for a limited time, so donât miss it.
– A new Season is coming soon. Weâve learned a lot from the first season of content for Star Wars Battlefront II, and we’re integrating those insights into our plans moving forward. We know youâre waiting for details on whatâs coming in the next season, and weâll have more to tell you soon.
Our goal has always been to create the best possible experience taking into account the feedback of our fans to continue to evolve and grow Star Wars Battlefront II.
