EA plans to delist Project Cars 3 next month

EA’s delisting Project Cars 3 next month and shutting down its servers next year

It’s official, the Project Cars franchise is over. EA has shut down Slightly Mad Studios, and EA’s about to delist its final game, Project Cars 3, from digital storefronts. Soon, no game in the Project Cars franchise will be available digitally.

On Steam, EA has confirmed that Project Cars 3 will be delisted from the platform on August 24, 2025. The game will remain available for existing owners. Furthermore, EA has confirmed that the game’s servers/online modes will be shut down on February 24th 2026. Thankfully, Project Cars 3 has single-player content that can still be enjoyed.

Update on PROJECT CARS 3. All product sales will end on: August 24th, 2025 23:59 UTC. Please note that times may vary by region. If you bought the game digitally it will remain in your library and can be redownloaded in the future. Any DLCs purchased before August 24th, 2025 23:59 UTC will still be available to use after this date. The game’s online modes will also remain active until February 24th, 2026.

EA on Steam

Project Cars 3 may be the last game in the series, but it’s far from the series’ best entry. Initially, the game was intended to be a Forza Horizon-style spin-off; however, this plan was overruled by Codemasters after they acquired Slightly Mad Studios. This resulted in Project Cars 3 being a game that did not meet the expectations of fans.

While Project Cars is dead, a successor is coming. Project Motor Racing is due to be released later this year, and Straight4 Studio, the game’s developer, is made up of racing veterans from Slightly Mad Studios and Simbin. Will it take up the Project Cars mantle and succeed within the sim racing space? We will see later this year.
