Elgato Gaming teases their first custom ICs – What do they have planned?
Computex 2019 starts next week, and Elgato plans to reveal something new there, teasing the company’s first “custom IC”, which is said to be a “from the ground up solution” for… something. Yeah, it’s a little vague, but we can make a few guesses at what Elgato’s upcoming product could be.Â
For starts, Elgato currently lacks an HDR compatible capture device, leaving streamers within the realms of SDR. While this isn’t a problem for most users, it is a negative that could be levelled at their products. Secondly, Elgato could be working on a solution which offers a built-in video encoder, greatly simplifying the video capture/streaming process. Those are just two examples of what Elgato could be planning for their next-generation of products.Â
Alternatively, Elgato could finally be upping the ante with some RGB goodness on their capture cards. Are there any RGB capture cards on the market? That would be custom, right? Joking aside, it will be interesting to see what Elgato has cooking at Computex.Â
