Expect to see The Witcher 4 at Unreal Fest

CD Projekt Red plans to showcase The Witcher 4’s tech at Unreal Fest

Update – You can see CD Projekt Red’s State of Unreal Engine 5 The Witcher 4 tech demo here.

At Epic Games’ State of Unreal 2025 event, CD Projekt Red plans to showcase some of the “innovative technology and features” that will be used in games like The Witcher 4 and the studio’s other upcoming games.

Like its predecessor, The Witcher 4 will be a large open-world RPG. This is a type of game that is typically unsuited to Unreal Engine 5, suggesting that big changes may be coming to Epic Games’ engine.

CD Projekt Red confirmed in 2022 that the company was moving to Unreal Engine 5, abandoning its in-house REDengine. This provides The Witcher 4 and other future CD Projekt Red titles with a new technological foundation. This is a positive development for CD Projekt Red, given the immense popularity of Unreal Engine 5. After all, most game developers have experience using Unreal Engine. However, this move also has downsides, as CD Projekt Red’s REDengine was tailor-made for its games.

Later today, we should see how Unreal Engine will push The Witcher 4 to new heights. Will we see gameplay at Unreal Fest? Will it just be a tech demo? We will know soon.

You can join the discussion on The Witcher 4’s appearance at Unreal Fest on the OC3D Forums.
