Gearbox release official Borderlands 4 gameplay

Gearbox says Borderlands 4 is “hands-down our best Borderlands ever”

Following the reveal of their new release date for Borderlands 4, Gearbox has released two new videos showcasing gameplay for the new looter-shooter. One video is a “Gameplay Trailer” for the title, while the other is a full “Deep Dive” for the game.

Weighing in at around 20 minutes, Borderlands 4’s gameplay deep dive highlights many aspects of the game. Gearbox’s creative director, Graeme Timmins, called the game “hands-down our best Borderlands ever”. During the showcase, two of the game’s new vault hunters were shown: Vex the Siren and Rafa the Exo-Soldier.

In Borderlands 4, gamers can expect an improved loot system and new movement abilities. These abilities include gliding, dashing, double-jumping, and point-grappling.

Loot is expected to be more like Borderlands 1/2 than Borderlands 3, increasing the rarity of legendary-class items. The game will be playable alone or in co-op, with the game supporting 2-player split-screen and online co-op.

Borderlands 4 is coming to PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 on September 12th 2025. Note that Gearbox has denied claims that their game’s release date was moved up to avoid GTA 6’s launch.
