Gears 5 gains AMD FidelityFX in its latest update
Â
When implemented into Gears 5, the feature lacks the FidelityFX On/Off option that most other implementations have. Instead, The Coalition has replaced Gears 5’s stock sharpening solution with AMD’s FidelityFX, while retaining the Sharpening strength option that Gears 5 already featured. This change makes Gears 5 the first game to allow gamers to define the strength of AMD’s post-process sharpening tool.Â
In other games that featured FidelityFX, the feature came with practically no performance cost, granting gamers a graphical upgrade with seemingly no downsides. The same logic should apply to Gears 5.
Those who want to know more about FideltyFX should have a look at our FidelityFX analyses of Borderlands 3, F1 2019 and RAGE 2. Those who want to know more about Gears 5’s PC version should look art our Performance Review for the game here.Â
