GRID 2019’s PC requirements list DX12 support and incredible storage requirements
Today, Codemasters has revealed the game’s official PC system requirements, listing DirectX 12 as a minimum PC requirement and a massive 100GB storage requirement. DirectX 11 support is not mentioned anywhere on the game’s Steam page, making it possible that GRID will be DirectX 12 only, a first for the Codemasters EGO engine. The game also requires Microsoft’s Windows 10 Operating system.
GRID (2019) is a reboot of the racing series which shares its name, offering a level of control that’s designed to satisfy both arcade and simulation racing fans, aiming for a high level of responsiveness and a learning curve which rewards players as their skill level advances. A realistic damage system will see vehicle performance and handling degrade if things become too violent, and repeated pain trading with specific drivers will see them emerge as a nemesis during races.  Â
Fans of the series will be glad to know that that a wide range of racing disciplines and vehicle types will remain within the game, with Circuit, Street Racing, Ovals, Hot Laps, Point-to-Point and World Time Attack race types being available. GT, Touring, Stock, Muscle, Super-Modified and more car types will be available within the game.Â
At a minimum, GRID requires a CPU with four threads, a processor that’s similar to or better than an Intel i3-2130 or an AMD FX4300. On the high-end, Codemasters recommend a processor with six strong cores, like an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or an Intel i5-8600K. 8GB of system memory is required, while 16GB of system memory is recommended.Â
On the GPU side, Codemasters lists Nvidia’s GT 640 and AMD’s HD 7750 as minimum GPU requirements, while on the recommended side, the company recommends AMD’s RX 590 and Nvidia’s GTX 1080, suggesting that the game will heavily favour Radeon graphics cards, at least when it comes to more modern architectures. Nvidia’s RX Vega 56 and 64 typically compete with Nvidia’s GTX 1080, making its comparison t an RX 590 here seem incredibly suspicious. Â
