Infamous Second Son is now “ingame” in ShadPS4
PlayStation 4 emulation continues to improve with each new ShadPS4 update
With the release of version 0.8.1 for ShadPS4, Infamous Second Son has become one of the newest games to reach “ingame” on the PlayStation 4 emulator. While the game is far from playable, this update highlights how far PlayStation 4 emulation has come. Today, many popular PS4 exclusives, including Knack, Killzone Shadowfall, and more, can be booted using the emulator.
While many modern PlayStation Studios titles have PC versions, plenty of PlayStation 4 titles remain exclusive to Sony’s hardware. For PC gamers, emulation may be the only way to make these games playable on the PC platform.
ShadPS4 is an emulator that is a work in progress. Not many games are playable using the emulator, and those that are aren’t the PlayStation 4’s heavy hitters. It will take time before ShadPS4 becomes as advanced as well-established emulators like Dolphin and PCSX2.
ShadPS4 may not be the only PS4 emulator, but it is currently the best one available. While it is not fully playable, the emulator can already play much of Bloodborne, and other users have used it to play Red Dead Redemption. This has driven a lot of interest in ShadPS4, as Sony and From Software seem uninterested in porting Bloodborne to PC or newer PlayStation platforms.
