IO Interactive Delays 007 First Light on Switch 2

007 First Light is launching on May 27th, unless you own a Switch 2

IO Interactive has delayed the release of 007 First Light on Switch 2. Originally, the game was due to be released alongside the game’s PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC versions. Now, the game will be released much later, targeting a time “later this summer”.

All other versions of 007 First Light will be released on May 27th. Last year, IO Interactive delayed the game to this date to ensure the game “meets the level of quality you players deserve on day one”.

Below is what IO Interactive had to say about the delay on Twitter/X. Basically, they said the game was delayed on Switch 2 and gave no explanation. Does the game need more optimisation time? Maybe, but IO Interactive isn’t saying that.

007 First Light comes to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 27th, 2026, and Nintendo Switch 2 later this summer. We’re excited to see players discovering James Bond’s reimagined origin story, and we are looking forward to bringing you the best game experience possible across all platforms.

First Light promises to be a globe-trotting experience with spycraft, gadgets, car chases and action. The game promises to be very different from IO Interactive’s Hitman games, though it will be highly replayable. Gamers will be able to complete missions using different approaches and tactics.
