It’s finally happening! NieR Automata’s Steam Patch launches tomorrow!

In 2017, NieR Automata launched on PC in a poor state, requiring a series of fan-made patches to make the game run well on the platform for all users. After the launch of NieR Replicant, Square Enix saw renewed criticisms of its PC port of Automata, prompting the publisher to fix their four-year-old mistake. Tomorrow, on July 15th, Square Enix will patch the Steam version of NieR Automata.

NieR Automata’s framerates have reportedly been stabilised to 60 FPS with the game’s new patch. This change alone addresses the game’s infamous framerate bugs and should allow PC gamers to enjoy a smoother gameplay experience. Beyond that, Automata’s cutscenes will now play at a higher bit rate on PC and at 60 FPS, making Automata’s cutscenes look better than ever.

Various new PC settings have also been added to Automata, including support for FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening, HDR, and new Global Illumination options. Automata’s Ambient Occlusion and Bloom settings have also been adjusted to operate at a non-fixed resolution, adjusting alongside the player’s screen resolution. In short, NieR Automata’s Ambient Occlusion and Bloom settings now work correctly at high screen resolutions.
