Marvel’s Avengers will receive its online gameplay reveal after Gamescom

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics announced Marvel’s Avengers at E3 2019, releasing a trailer for the game publically but no gameplay. So far, gameplay for Marvel’s Avengers has been exclusive for event attendees, and at this time, it looks like the game will also be shown at Gamescom without any publically available gameplay footage.

Last night, the official Twitter account for Marvel’s Avengers confirmed that gameplay for Marvel’s Avengers will be released one week after Gamescom finishes, which places the game’s gameplay reveal within a late August/early September timeframe.

Marvel’s Avengers will not be based within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will not be the same as their recent filmic incarnations and that the game has the freedom to utilise more characters than the current MCU can offer and the ability to use others in different ways.

Marvel’s Avengers will be playable in both single-player and co-op modes, enabling gamers to play in teams of up to four heroes, with new characters and regions being set to release for the game post-launch for free to players. Square Enix has promised that the game will include no loot boxes or pay-to-win elements.

Marvel’s Avengers is being developed by Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind the recent Tomb Raider reboot series. The game is set to release on May 15th, 2020 and release on PC, Xbox One PlayStation 4 and Stadia. PlayStation players will receive early beta access for the game and other “unique benefits”.

Below is Marvel’s Avengers “A-Day” trailer;

  Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvels’ Avengers is due to release on May 15th 2019 and Intel has been announced as the game’s PC hardware partner.
