Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 receives another PC hotfix

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has had a troubled launch on PC – Hotfix 1.202.0.0 Released

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the newest PlayStation 5 game to make it to PC, and reviews on Steam are “Mixed.” Gamers have reported performance issues, crashing, and framerate dips, with one reviewer calling the game an “unoptimised mess.”

Today, Nixxes has released their second hotfix for Spider-Man 2’s PC issues. This update delivers stability improvements to the game and fixes various crashes. Additionally, it has also addressed issues with the game’s achievements, which were not being rewarded to some players. Furthermore, a “frame rate related” bug has been fixed that prevented player progression during the game’s “Show Me New York” mission.

Below is what Nixxes had to say about Hotfix 1.202.0.0;

Hey everyone,

A second hotfix for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is out now on PC. This update contains various crash fixes and changes aimed at further improving game stability.

This patch also resolves a bug that prevented some players from getting Achievements. Affected players will unlock those Achievements retroactively after updating the game and loading a save file.

We’ve also fixed a bug related to DualShock 4 button prompts and resolved a frame rate related progression blocker. Check out the patch notes below for more details.

We continue to closely monitor our crash reporting system and player feedback. Our QA and development teams are actively investigating and working on additional patches to further improve the game.

  • Various crash fixes and stability improvements.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause Achievements not being awarded on some configurations.
  • Triangle and Square button prompts are now displayed correctly when using a DualShock 4 controller with Steam Input enabled.
  • Resolved a frame rate related bug that could block players during the mission “Show Me New York”.

Hotfix Release Notes

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been a troubling launch for Sony. Sony only released details like PC system requirements one day before launch. Now that the game has been released on PC, we have to wonder why Sony did not delay the game’s PC launch. Sony could have avoided a tonne of negative press had they addressed this game’s issues ahead of launch.

For now, many PC gamers recommend that would-be buyers wait for more updates before jumping into Spider-Man 2.
