Metal Gear Solid 4 will soon be free of PS3 exclusivity – PC/console versions incoming!
The METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2 has been unveiled for PC and consoles
Konami has officially unveiled Vol. 2 of its Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, which will deliver “first-ever” ports of Metal Gear Solid 4 to new platforms. To date, Metal Gear Solid 4 has been available only on Sony’s PlayStation 3, a console that is almost 20 years old.
The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 contains three games: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. The latter of these three games is considered “bonus content”. Konami has also confirmed that this collection’s version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is the same as the game’s HD Collection version.
The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 will be released on August 27th. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC (Steam), and Nintendo Switch/Switch 2.
On Steam, this this three game collection will be available for £44.98. Note that these games will not be available for purchase separately.
Note that it is currently unknown if Metal Gear Solid 4’s new PC and console versions will feature any enhancements over the game’s PS3 version. We expect the game to run at higher resolutions on most platforms. However, it is unclear if the game will receive additional graphical upgrades. Furthermore, it is unclear whether the game will support 60 FPS modes on higher-end consoles. We hope that Konami will clarify these details soon.
